The city of Kortrijk wants to develop a future scenario for a central urban block located just outside the direct access of the shopping center K and the station area.

The district is characterized by its heterogeneous and introvert character with some out of scale entities as the former main building of Belgacom.

In our proposal, rehabilitation will be obtained by renovation, demolition and adding new volumes. Incisions in the front line bringing oxygen and light inside the block which generate private / public passages of lanes and alleys where new programs of workshops, galleries and creative activities can develop. The added program reveals the ambition of Kortrijk as the city of design, innovation and creativity.

The inner area becomes an informal public space, a micro-park within the city center. All units of the block look out onto the inner area, animated by a regained urbanity.
