For the first edition of the Ghent Light Festival, SAQ was invited to propose an installation on a site to be chosen in the city centre. The preferred location turned out to be the ancient amphitheatre in the “Aula Academia”, heart of the Ghent University.
Through projected and animated light, this light and sound installation called “BBASS” seeks to convey an entirely different reading of the space. During the three nights of the Ghent Light festival, BBASS turned out to be a public favorite and was visited by more than 80.000 people.

The renovation of the formerly abandoned top-arcades in which the restaurant took its premises is respectful of the architectural heritage. Bringing on a new breeze in this ensemble, SAQ’s intervention is minimal: the particular atmosphere is created with a limited amount of elements.
'BotoxCloud’s' design and physical orientation has a futuristic touch, which explores the idea of pluralistic or probabilistic architecture. In other words, the installation yields various possible structural manifestations. For example, when the light comes through the paper models, its physicality changes.
Continuing the concept of the Hudson Hotel to create 'an exciting urban adventure that provides a unique experience' SAQ proposes a stunning intervention of the Hudson Cafeteria. The former library of the American Women’s Association Clubhouse and Residence for Young Women in New York will be reinterpreted in a fresh yet delicate way.
